Diablo 3 Beta Test Feat of Strength
May 9, 2012 in News! by Motorskull
In a move likely to generate some…heated discussion, Lylirra has let us know about a Feat of Strength – “One of the Chosen” that will be awarded exclusively to people chosen for the Diablo 3 Beta.
Read the whole of Lylirra’s post below:
In celebration of a successful beta test, all players who were invited to participate in the Diablo III closed beta will receive the commemorative Feat of Strength, “One of the Chosen.” For eligible players, this feat will appear automatically in the Feat of Strength list after logging in for the first time as well as unlock a unique sigil that can be used on character banners.
In order to be eligible for “One of the Chosen,” you must have had a Diablo III closed beta license attached to your Battle.net account (it isn’t necessary to have downloaded or logged into the beta itself). Please note that players who participated only in the Open Beta Weekend, but were not invited to the closed beta, will not receive this Feat of Strength.
Thank you once again to all of our beta participants. We look forward to seeing you in Sanctuary!
This kind of bums me out for all the people who didn’t get in and wanted to
Its sad that they dont get it but, as a person that does I am supper happy…. Sucks for those that didnt but… WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT For Me
!
someone that got an invite and didn’t bother to install it has a done a feat, and a guy in the forums (multiple sites even) every single day since the last six months is non-significant
Yeah
It’s always disheartening to miss out on stuff – especially if its something you wanted and would appreciate far more than some fool who thinks Diablo 3 is some sort of shaving cream, but I can see both sides of what people are arguing about here.
Feats of Strength, though nice, don’t mean much. I think Bash made a good parallel to feats for attending Blizzcon and the like.
As a pretty full-on Blizz fan, sure I’m a bit jealous when I see people with the Blizzcon polar bear mount (which, I’d argue sees a LOT more use and display time than a banner sigil) in WoW, but in the end, it’s just a thing.
Some of the official forum histrionics we’re seeing are embarrassingly over the top, imo.
Yeah a lot of those threads are way to high on the troll/entitlement level. And it’s really a bummer because after this reaction Blizz is less likely to ever do it again.
Ugh. It sounds like I should be grateful that I have not had time lately to participate in the official forum antics. I am not fond of high-density trolling/entitlement/QQing/etc.
I am a bit annoyed that actual participation in the Beta is not required to receive these perks. I guess they don’t really have the data that would track individual participation, at least in a way that would make it feasible to flag a BNet account to receive a D3 achievement.
Ultra, I am empathetic to your getting the short end of the stick. But, I would be willing to bet it won’t really detract from your ability to enjoy D3 once you get your hands on it. You will love it regardless.
I’m on the fence about this. As someone else who missed out on the beta and really wanted in, this feels like a little more dirt in the eye (cool stuff is cool). However, I also feel that those who did actively participate in the beta and sent bug reports, made playthrough videos, and got people more stoked for the game release do deserve a little nod, even if it is just a couple vanity items and an achievement.
As for the other forums QQers, trolls, and such, I’m just glad that hasn’t bled into TWSK. For that, my thanks to my fellow members. You guys rock!
Agreed, every time I think about the community we have here, I couldn’t be more happy to have such awesome people be a part of it!
