The final countdown continues!
To round out the days until May 15, we’ll be having a look back at some of the events that have brought us to release.
A Beta test for Diablo 3 was announced by Mike Morhaime during the Activision/Blizzard Conference Call in May, 2011 where he said that the game had gone into a company-wide test in that week and that an external beta test was targeted for Q3, 2011. The actual closed beta began on the 20th of September, 2011.
The NDA-free beta test evolved through 18 patches throughout its lifespan. The content of the game contained in the beta consisted of a small part of Act 1, starting with the player’s arrival in New Tristram and ending with a battle against the Skeleton King.
Apart from a one weekend server stress test in late April, 2012, the beta was never open to everyone.
The beta test peroid finally concluded on the 1st of May, 2012.
People chosen for the Beta will receive a Feat of Strength, “One of the Chosen” and a banner sigil.
TWSK Episode 34. TWSK Does Beta.
Aww beta! Such good times were had. If you truly are but a mere taste of what’s to come, I for one am astounded. This game will consume more lives than any before it, and I wouldn’t want it any other way.
