1.0.4 Legendaries

The Diablo 3 official blog brings news that lots of people have been waiting for – the 1.0.4 Legendary Item buff.
There are quite a few changes, ranging from the fun and/or cosmetic to full re-imaginings of certain items. It’s well worth noting that some legendaries are not changing; the blog post specifically cites the Helm of Command as an example.
Some excellent news is that some of the 1.0.4 legendaries are now item level 63, up from their previous cap of 62.
Some of the new legendary item graphics can be seen in the video below, as well as a few of the new proc effects. Enjoy!
I really want to see how some of the high-end newly buffed 1.0.4 legendaries stack up against 1.0.4 high-end rares. Will everyone now be after the same orange gear? Will having a rare item still allow to carve out your own legend? Bring on the patch!
The niche-legendaries look like they range in level from 40-59 or so, theoretically keeping them from being the *ultimate* choice of gear for a niche build, but rather an excellent choice to get a build viably going. I think that is a good thing – they really must fight the urge to make legendaries the overall preferred final choice of gear for most builds.
But that is also a balancing issue. It might turn out that the random number generator will be so stingy with spitting out rares that are better than the legendaries that people will by default just look for the legendaries. Who knows?
