PTR Patch Notes for Patch 1.0.5 – Updated.
September 20, 2012 in News! by Motorskull
The PTR Patch 1.0.5 patch notes have been posted over at the official Diablo 3 forum.
There’s quite a list to hoe through, but as indicated earlier, the Monster Power system (similar to Diablo 2′s /players 8) is in as well as the Infernal Machine (similar to the old uber-monsters).
Other noteworthy entries include:
- In Inferno, resplendant chests now drop loot in a similar way to Elites (scaling with Nephalem Valor), and will also grant a stack of Nephalem Valor when opened.
- Followers and pets will no longer attack idle monsters unless they are within 10 yards of the player
- Item affixes are now tied to the level of the monster killed and not the item’s level.
There are a raft of other changes. Head on over and give it a look.
UPDATE: Updated patchnotes here.
resplendent chests: YAY!!! A reason to bother with them! They’ve been terribly disappointing for a while now.
Followers and pets will no longer attack idle monsters: Also yay! I’ve lost a few treasure goblins because of a pet’s over-zealousness.
Item affixes are now tied to the level of the monster killed: I don’t know what to think of this yet. I guess since I gave up on Inferno and decided to prance around getting other classes through normal, I have not though of the item game a whole lot lately. Any else have thoughts on this change?
I have not *thought of the item game
I’d tell you what I think of the monster level being the deciding factor for item affixes… but I don’t know that many swear words >.>
I am really non-plussed about that change – my understanding of it, at least. It seems like they’re trying to push you into Act 3 and 4 if you want the good stuff. We’ll see.
So… back to “I can’t get gear to survive in Act 3 because I can’t farm Act 3?”
You guys are misunderstanding this. This turns inferno back into the way they wanted it, with a flat level across the board. So you can go grind anywhere in the game with diminishing returns on items. It is wonderful. So the game right now, act 3 and 4, is about equal to MP 2.5 ish. So next patch, the game as you know it with the scale will be MP 0 and will be scaled back abit so everyone can enjoy it. As soon as you turn it to MP 1, every mob in the game will be LvL 63. Flat lining the difficulty for all acts to the same. So if you are not an act 3 or 4 person now, but can do act 2 fine. Then set the MP to 1 or 2 and the whole game will be on par with current act 2, but allow you to enjoy it more.
I am not sure if the difficulty will actually flatline with Monster Power 1+.
Setting all monsters across all acts to level 63 will still leave a lot of zombies in Act 1 and Morlu in Act 4. I imagine the later acts will remain more challenging just based on the abilities seen on the monsters present in those acts.
Thats true CPSLO. The mob types make a difference, but also note. I am pretty sure the drop rates still apply, so the 8/16/24% on Act vs lvl 63 items. Hard to say how this will be, but I think it will rock and I cant wait!
This is a good Blue Post on the forums by Lylirra for reference on Monster Power, drops, and how to farm in Inferno in patch 1.05.
