Toraja

The Toraja region is an area of dense, tropical rainforest and marshes in the southwestern corner of the eastern lands. Bordered by Kehjistan to its north and the Twin Seas to the west, the trackless Torajan Jungles are filled with flora and fauna, much of it dangerous, that is found nowhere else on Sanctuary.

The region’s rainforests have sheltered many civilizations over thousands of years, the majority of which are now lost to time, wars or the jungle itself; including the city from which the region takes its name.

Deep within the greater bulk of the impenetrable jungles is an area known by its people as the Teganze Forest. The Umbaru people, the mysterious tribes of the Teganze, practice human sacrifice to honor the revered spirits of their rainforest home. Their prime tenet is the belief that the world of humanity is merely a shadow that hides the true, hidden reality which they call Mbwiru Eikura – the Unformed Land.

The formidable witch doctors of Teganze are masters of dark magic, able to command the dead and assault their foes with visions of undreamed of horrors.

The Teganze region was also the historic home of the Khazra clans, before they migrated away. The Khazra would later become the goatmen after falling under the vile influence of the demon Zagraal in the Mage Clan Wars.
