The mountainous and remote island nation of Xiansai is found in the Frozen Sea, beyond the northernmost extent of Scosglen and far to the east of the Dreadlands.

The people of the island, the Xian, have largely escaped foreign influence, due both to their island’s remoteness and their own insular nature, but the island is not without it’s own troubles.

Xiansai is ruled by the so-called Great Families, and these powerful and wealthy trade groups are the source from which most of the land’s internal strife springs. Between them, the Great Families control every aspect of the nation’s economy, from it’s rich fishing industry to the lucrative ore and gem mining operations in the island’s Guozhi mountain range.

The Xian also have a long history of the practice of the magic arts, and the island’s lonely mountains are littered with arcane repositories and artifacts dating back, in some cases, thousands of years.

Partly as a legacy of it’s rich arcane tradition, Xiansai has become somewhat of a recruiting ground for the magic academies of Caldeum, whose members visit the island in search of promising apprentices every few years.
